A FEW WORDS ABOUT

What We Do

OUR PROJECTS

Community connection

Bridge Africa Organization started with a simple concept: To take advantage of ‘plenty’ of resources in our community, here in America, and extend it to the less fortunate children and women, and families in Africa. We began our journey by forming a partnership with a local cartridge recycling business in Wood Village, Oregon, to raise funds for our projects. It was a successful collaboration because it extended our effort in partnering with Staples Cartridge Recycling national program, to collect empty cartridges from local businesses and schools, to raise funds for our operational activities.

After many years of commitment and serving our international communities- in Ghana, Kenya and Nigeria, we began to focus on local needs as well. This was needed because of the needs we saw in many African communities locally.

We began to ‘look inward’ into our community. The reason: we determined that, although there are plenty of opportunities available to locals- the various African communities- lack of information may be the barrier to them receiving and fully participating in available opportunities and resources. So through networking and attending events that support or promote Africans in diaspora, we began to engage individuals and families, by leveraging the experience and expertise of fellow Africans in our community to enrich and empower and to build resilience in various communities. It was a positive outcome for many. Simply letting people know about opportunities allows them to expand their horizon to pursue opportunities never once considered, and to improve their quality of life. Truly: “Knowledge is power.”

This endeavor has led to greater access to educational opportunities- in the form of scholarships and grants; access to healthcare and housing accessibilities; career opportunities in both government and private sectors, and in the military. Even in business opportunities for those that see market prospects in their countries of origin, wanting to engage in commerce. We help businessmen and -women navigate trade issues to seek new markets for their products; make presentations on import and export opportunities.
